As I told before on my previous article, warming up is an essential for all singers because it's the right way to do healthy singing. Warming up allows the singer to get-in-touch with her/himself, both physically and psychologically, and to experience that self-awareness which is the foundation of a secure vocal technique. Warm-ups help the singer focus energy and breathing, as well as give the vocal folds an opportunity to get used to the intensity with which they will be working. Now, I will give you some tips for warming up that I often do before begin to sing. Check them out!
Humming. This is the best way to begin the warming up. Humming is singing without open your mouth. While you're humming, try to focus and feel the resonance and vibration on your forehead and your mask. Always control your pitch so that your humming still in tune. Humming with vibrating the lips. This unique technique is adopted from my vocal trainer on Elfa Music School. He tought me to humm with vibrating my lips. In the long-run, the objective of it is to increase my breath power, because you need much power and volume of breath to chime your voice and vibrate your lips in the same time.
Sing note from your lowest range to highest range. Just sing simple note, like 1-2-3-4-5-4-3-2-1, from the lowest range to the highest range. For example, if your lowest range is F, sing 1-2-3-4-5-4-3-2-1 on F=do and increase the note by 1# (half note) to F#=do and do the same until you reach your highest range. This is really good to get your voice in touch with its range.
